Deloitte estimates online Christmas sales will increase by 10% this festive period. They put a total online spend for 2008 at £4.7bn, also a 10 percent rise year on year.
However the growth of web sales is beginning to slow. A ‘Capgemini IMRG e-Retail Sales Index Report’ showed that online sales grew by 54% in the last quarter of 2007, compared with just 15% in the corresponding 2008 quarter.
The slowing down of growth has got to be in some part due to the credit crunch. But now is still a great time to set-up an online ecommerce business!

I have just opened my online business. I am being coached by my son who has been in his business for seven years,and doing very well. I did not do much at this 2008 Christmas for I am still in a learning curve. Look out 2009!
