If you are going to do anything then you should always do it properly, whether its painting your fence or setting up a new multi-million pound business! Going about whatever you are doing in a proper manner ensures it is more likely what you are doing will be a success.

If you are setting up an online business (no matter how it generates revenue) make sure you are the following:

  1. Clear on what you are doing, failing to plan is planning to fail
  2. Have the ability to complete tasks needed for success
  3. Have the drive to succeed, if you already can’t be bothered with it then bin the project
  4. Have the time and resources, you may have a great idea but if it needs money and you can’t get any then its a non starter.

If you do start an online business and just meander through running it then 6 months down the line you won’t be pleased that you have only made a few pounds, or even lost money. If you want to succeed you must have something that is going to make your business stand out in the crowded online arena, then you must have planned it properly and ensured you have the time, ability and resources to carry the project out. If you do then congratulations, in a couple of years time there is a good chance you will have a good little business on your hands.

It is easy for me to sit here and type this blog post, starting up and running a business is hard, and takes time. So give yourself the best chance of success and make sure you meet all the criteria above, if you don’t then do yourself a favour and correct whatever the problem is before you start your business. This way when you do embark on your project you give the business maximum chance of being successful!
