Your conversion rate is the percentage of your visitors who buy from you. It is worked out by dividing the amount of sales you make by the amount of visitors you receive and multiplying it by 100. If this week you made 30 sales and you had 2000 visitors to your ecommerce store your conversion rate is 1.5%.

Using Data To Work Out Your Conversion Rate
For measuring traffic I would highly recommend you use Google Analytics, it is much more reliable and in-depth than both Awstats and Webalizer which record data based on your server usage.
Add Leads Into Measurements
When customers contact you enquiring about your service this is also a lead which you can turn into a customer (with good customer service). As well as your conversion rate based on sales you may want to also separately add in the amount of customers who have contacted you. Although you have not converted them into a paying customer they are still a lead. This shows your website is generating leads and is a measurement of performance.

does anyone know of someone who can look at the website and make the necessary changes to increase conversation rates! I want a person or company that has beed around for a while and has a great track record that can be verified!!!
